Wisconsin Employment Transportation Assistance Program (WETAP)
The Wisconsin Departments of Workforce Development (DWD) and Transportation (WisDOT) jointly sponsor WETAP. This program integrates several state and federal funding sources into one, coordinated application process. The goal of this process is for local areas to work together in a collaborative process to assess and address their transportation needs.
Program objectives:
- Help low income, unemployed and/or at-risk people access jobs, retain jobs or advance to higher paying jobs by alleviating transportation-related barriers.
- Enhance the mobility options of the low-income population and increase their access to employment and job-related needs such as childcare, training and interviews.
- Increase the availability of transportation options available to low income workers. Some examples include: expanding capacity of public transportation systems, ridesharing options and innovative individual solutions.
- Encourage creating of a local planning process involving all local stakeholders, including low-income individuals and the private sector.
Additional information is available about WETAP on the Programs for Local Government section of the web site.
